collective A is a creative arts group founded by visionary Korean choreographer Cha Jinyeob that explores the diversity and potential of art through a multifaceted approach and exploration of dance language, going against the formal concepts of existing performing arts. Through the microscopic observation of the living body, the group seeks to represent the invisible world and question the meaning of "here" and "now" through the interaction between the inside and outside of the body. Taking this idea as a foundation and creating all inevitable and organic relationships beyond the idea of substance and non-substance is the driving force and goal of collective A.
The group's major works include Body-Go-Round series from 2020, MIIN-BODY TO BODY, Rotten Apple, Riverrun, and Fake Diamond. Traversing different spaces, genres, and media with site-specific performances, cross-genre collaborations, and the art and technology, multidisciplinary work, collective A pursues uniquely integrated approaches and explores the three-dimensional values of art.
콜렉티브A는 현대무용가 차진엽이 창단한 크리에이티브 아트그룹으로, 기존 공연 예술이 가진 형식적 개념을 벗어나 무용 언어에 다각적으로 접근하고 이를 탐구하며 예술의 다양성과 가능성을 모색한다. 현존하는 몸을 미시적으로 관찰하여 육안으로 보이지 않는 세상을 표상화하며, 몸 안과 밖의 상호 연결을 통해 ‘지금’, ‘여기’의 의미를 되묻고자 한다. 이를 토대로 물질과 비물질의 차원을 넘어 모든 필연적이고 유기적인 관계를 만들어 나가는 것이 콜렉티브A의 원동력이자 지향점이다.
대표작으로는 2020년에 시작된 「원형하는 몸> 시리즈, 「미인:MIIN-BODY TO BODY」, 「로튼 애플」, 「리버런」, 「페이크 다이아몬드」 등이 있다. 장소 특정적 퍼포먼스, 장르 간 협업, 예술과 기술 융합, 다학제적 작업 등 공간과 장르, 형식과 매체를 종횡무진하며 콜렉티브A만의 방식으로 합일화된 작업을 추구하며 예술이 지닌 입체적 가치를 탐구한다.
